Individual Options

Transfort is the region's largest transit agency, serving the City of Fort Collins. The service has experienced record growth over the past five years, particularly after the opening of the MAX bus rapid transit line and its partnership with Colorado State University to provide students with free service. Currently, the system has 22 routes.

In 2014, Transfort opened the MAX bus rapid transit route along the Mason Corridor. The route operates in its own right-of-way between Harmony Road and Prospect Road, then a shared corridor through CSU’s campus and on Mason Street in Old Town Fort Collins. The route runs every 10 minutes throughout the day and provides meaningful connections at the Downtown Transit Center and the South Transit Center.

Transfort operates the FLEX services in partnership with Loveland, Berthoud, Longmont, and Boulder County. The local service operates along US 287 between the South Transit Center in Fort Collins and the Longmont terminus at 8th and Coffman Park-n-Ride, with stops in Fort Collins, Loveland, Berthoud, and Longmont. The express service stops at all MAX stations in Fort Collins, stops in Loveland, then runs express to Longmont and the City of Boulder. Additional partnerships with the University of Colorado Boulder and CSU enable the express service.

Greeley-Evans Transit (GET) is operated by the City of Greeley and provides fixed-route, paratransit, and Call-N-Ride services to the public within Greeley, Garden City, and Evans. Service to Evans and Garden City is provided through an Inter-governmental Agreement (IGA). All University of Northern Colorado students can ride for free with their ID.

The Ride Free with ID program was extended to all students in Greeley and Evans. Students can show bus drivers their student IDs to obtain a free school-year pass or their state-issued IDs. The service has enabled students to participate in a variety of after-school activities they previously could not access.

In 2016, GET updated its route system, replacing the previous one-way loops with bidirectional linear routes.

Starting in January 2020, GET operates the Poudre Express Regional Route from the Greeley Regional Transportation Center to the CSU Transit Center via the University of Northern Colorado, Town of Windsor, and the Harmony Road Transfer Center. The route is funded by the Associated Students of Colorado State University (ASCSU) in Fort Collins, Greeley, and Windsor. The route will operate seven times per day in each direction and will cost $1.50 per trip with free transfers.

The City of Loveland Transit (COLT) system is operated by the City of Loveland’s Public Works Department. COLT’s fixed-route service runs from 6:38 a.m. to 7:48 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 8:38 a.m. to 5:38 p.m. on Saturday, with half-hour to one-hour headways. Paratransit is available during the same hours as regular service for eligible passengers. Seven routes serve two main transfer centers: Loveland Transit Center and the South Transfer Center on 8th Street. The City of Loveland also funds the FLEX service between Fort Collins, Longmont, and Boulder.

The Berthoud Area Transportation Service (BATS) has been operated by the Town of Berthoud since 2006. BATS provides shared-ride demand-response service for residents within an approximately eight-square-mile service area. The service area includes the developed portion of Berthoud and the immediate area surrounding the Town.

BATS transports riders to Longmont on Mondays and to Loveland on Tuesdays through Fridays. Out-of-town rider pickups begin at 8:00 a.m., with a return trip to Berthoud at 11:30 a.m. In-town trips are provided from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. There is no service on holidays, and any rides must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.

The Bustang‘s North Line service operates between the Downtown Transit Center, Harmony Road Park-n-Ride, US 34 Park-n-Ride, and Denver Union Station. Operating eight round-trip per day, Bustang provides interregional service between Northern Colorado and the Denver Metro area. At Denver Union Station, riders can connect to the RTD bus, light rail, and commuter rail system. At both stops in Fort Collins, riders can connect to the Transfort system, and in Loveland, to the COLT system.

Bustang Outrider provides service between Sterling and Greeley, operating a three-day-per-week round-trip.

Reduce traffic and minimize air pollution when planning your weekend ski or mountain trip!

Weekends see increased travel to the mountains for skiing and other outdoor recreational activities. Traffic can build up, leading to long delays and added stress when navigating mountain roads. The Interstate 70 corridor, stretching from Denver to Vail, is notorious for heavy traffic. A round trip from Fort Collins to Silverthorne can cost $50 to $100 for fuel and parking fees. Transit Tips

1. Plan Ahead: Transfort, COLT, GET, BATS, and Bustang each offer online trip planners to help you plan your route before you are out the door.
2. Timing: Give yourself ample time to get to and from your destination.
3. Transfer for Free: When riding a bus, if your trip includes more than one ride, ask for a free transfer.
4. Bike to the Bus: Use your bike to help you complete your journey. You can park it in front of the different buses or the Bustang undercarriage.
5. Know Your Options: Options continue to grow and change, from bus routes to new services; you can always find a way to get there.
6. Ways to Save: Whether you use transit daily, once a week, or twice a week, there are pass options available on the GET, COLT, and Bustang websites.

Meet your carpool at the Park-n-Rides, such as the Dinosaur lots in Golden, located at exit 259 off I-70. There are three lots with ample parking spaces: Woolly Mammoth (918 spots), T-Rex (156 spots), and Stegosaurus (117 spots). This is a wonderful place to refuel and meet up with friends or colleagues to make the journey together.

Snowstang bus

Take the Snowstang bus and eliminate worries about finding parking or navigating traffic congestion and snow-covered mountain roads. Snowstang offers routes to four different resorts (Copper Mountain, Arapahoe Basin, Loveland, and Breckenridge) from three pick-up locations in the Denver metro area (Union Station, Federal Center Station, and the Wooly Mammoth Park-n-Ride). The bus runs from mid-December to early May; adult round-trip tickets are $25.

Each Snowstang bus is equipped with a restroom, bike racks, equipment storage, Wi-Fi, power outlets, and USB ports. The buses are entirely accessible and feature two standard securement areas, including a center-loading wheelchair lift. 

Amtrak Winter Park Express train

The Winter Park Express completely bypasses the horrors of I-70, taking the more scenic route and always arriving on time. With fares starting at $9 one-way, you can catch the train at Union Station in Denver, straight to the base of Winter Park. The ski train will operate from December 19 to January 4, running Friday through Sunday. From January 8 to March 29, service will expand to Thursday - Sunday. With dedicated baggage storage for skis and snowboards at no extra cost, you'll have ample legroom for comfort, plus a cafe for drinks and snacks.

Resort Carpool Benefits

• Arapahoe Basin: Due to an overwhelming demand for parking, Arapahoe Basin will require reservations for parking on weekends between January 3, 2026, and May 3, 2026. Free carpool parking will be available at select lots for vehicles with four or more passengers, but reservations are still required. • Breckenridge Ski Resort: Drive up to four or more people in your vehicle and receive 50% off the daily rate at the South Gondola, North Gondola, and Gold Rush parking lots. • Keystone Resort: Skiers and riders who arrive with four or more people in the car can park in the premier parking section in Keystone's River Run free lot, which is a short walk to the River Run Gondola. Carpool parking is limited and first-come, first-served.

Bustang

Take the Bustang bus and eliminate the worry of finding parking or navigating traffic congestion on your summer trips to the mountains. Bustang offers routes from Denver to Fort Collins, Colorado Springs, and Grand Junction. Seasonal services include RamsRoute, Bustang to Broncos, and Bustang to Estes. Buses depart locally from Denver Union Station, Westminster Sheridan Station, Broomfield Station, Superior McCaslin Station, Boulder Junction at Depot Square Station, and Lyons Park-n-Ride. Pegasus

Thinking about taking Interstate 70, but don’t you want to deal with the traffic or pay the mountain express toll? Pegasus has you covered. A smaller version of Bustang serving the Interstate 70 corridor between Denver and Avon will get you there stress-free. When available, Pegasus uses the mountain express lane and has stops at Denver Union Station, Denver Federal Center, Idaho Springs, Frisco, Vail, and Avon.
